Your mistake was saying okay to another date.
Okay, so meeting someone via the iternet is all the rage now. But one of the inherent problems is that you start from ground zero with no idea if you are attracted to the person at all.
So yes, it's hard to tell someone you don't feel a connection. You should have done it when he asked you out again.
Since you didn't, I think you should have given the guy the second date. But that is ALL you have to feel guilty about.
You certainly shouldn't feel guilty about not proceeding on with someone you have no attraction to.
Anyway, it's done. You sent him the email, so forget it. And don't let your friends run your love life. They may have some valid insights into your personality. But there's no need to get into an analysis of why you weren't attracted to him after ONE meeting.
You don't know if he's a challenge or not at this point. You don't know if he is a complex personality or much of anything about him really. You didn't click. So what?
